Adult Education

At First Baptist our adult Sunday School is designed to foster growth and discipleship to ensure Christian maturity. The mainstream adult program offers electives that are either Bible study or topic related. A second adult option is the JOY class which uses the International Sunday School lessons from Judson press. Sunday School is one short hour packed with study, fellowship and learning.

Below is a list of classes being held this Autumn, beginning September 18th and running until December 4th.

Apologetics

Apologetics is defending our faith.  We can have answers for the critics of Christianity that we meet in the course of the day.  We will look at how to develop a Biblical worldview, Biblical discernment and how to recognize counterfeit teachers of Scripture.  We will answer the question Who is Jesus?  We will look at the evidence that Jesus is a real figure of history and the Old Testament prophecies concerning Him.  Why is it important to receive Christ as Savior?  We will learn about "fuzzy words" and answer questions like How do we know the Bible is true?  How can we be sure it is reliable?  Why 66 books and do we have the right ones?  We will also look at the life of William Tyndale and how the King James Bible was made.  Most of this will be done by DVDs supplied by Answers in Genesis (Ken Ham).  Led by Mark Punchard.

This course is intended to study the topic of worship both inside and outside the walls of the church.  It is being designed to give the participant a Biblical perspective of worship as well as detailed information about how to create a worshipful lifestyle in your own home and family.  Our hope is that by building those foundations now, you and your family will be able to live a vibrant life of worship that is pleasing to the Lord for many years to come.  This class will rely heavily on participation from its members, so be prepared to share!  This course will be led by Matt Peregoy with cheerleader Steph Punchard and is geared toward ages 18-35 (although others are welcome also).

Ten Steps to Spiritual Renewal

David Jeremiah is the author of this study.  He uses the Book of Nehemiah primarily to reveal the ten steps to Spiritual Renewal.  Through Nehemiah's leadership, the faithless Jewish remnant was transformed into a faithful restored nation.  Dr. Jeremiah outlines Nehemiah's Ten Steps to Spiritual Renewal and we will discover how to use these steps to renew our own faith!  Taught by Mac McBeth.
